Coming out of the post-COVID hiring spree, our City Hall is bloated - with too many managers who do nothing more than write reports and manage other managers. We will shift spending back to where it belongs: core services. We will hire 400 new front-line unionized staff members to improve garbage pickup, road maintenance, parks and rec facilities, and other critical services that Vancouverites rely on.

Ken Sim’s approach to safety amounts to “give the police whatever they ask for.” While we support our men and women in uniform - this approach isn’t working. Crime thrives when there is money to be made, and the proliferation of Bitcoin ATMs across our city is enabling the toxic drug trade and the trail of violence that comes with it. Ken Sim has promoted Bitcoin at every opportunity, calling it his “hill to die on,” meanwhile, organized crime thrives here and street-level disorder has gotten worse. We will crack down on Bitcoin ATMs, money laundering, and other other root causes of crime through smart, well-considered policy that will actually make a difference… and make our streets safer for our citizens.

Every other city in BC uses the BC Building Code, yet Vancouver has its own special Building Code, adding costs, wait times, and complexity for everything from a simple home renovation to the construction of a new multi-unit building. This is a big part of why Vancouver’s housing costs are so high. We will eliminate the Vancouver Building Code and just adopt the BC Building Code… in line with Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey, and our other neighbouring cities.

Ken Sim and ABC have raised property taxes by 26% in four years… and yet, nothing seems to get any better. Under ABC, spending is both mis-managed and out of control, going to hiring too many managers and pet projects that do nothing to make Vancouverites’ lives better. And here’s the worst example: an $800-Million “Second City Hall” built right beside our current one. Aside from the fact that we don’t need this and it won’t make anything better, our city is awash with empty office space… now is the worst possible time to add more!
