Amanda Bains is seeking election for Vancouver Park Board Commissioner as part of the Vancouver Liberal team. She wants to bring the perspective of a community leader to the Park Board to strengthen Vancouver’s social fabric and protect the spaces that are the most important to us.

Bains’ will bring her passion and experience from her career and community involvement to the Park Board to effectively represent the people of Vancouver. As a small business owner, HEU member, elected president of her strata council, and political campaign volunteer, she understands the role that municipal policy plays in the quality of life that Vancouver can provide.
To Bains, parks and beaches are vital to Vancouver as some of the only places where residents can engage in nearly any activity they want without having to buy entry. They’re children's playgrounds, seniors’ meeting places, open-air athletic facilities, and even places to sit back and meditate. Both social and physical health are supported by our parks, and Bains doesn’t want the Park Board to lose sight of that objective.
When it comes to her plan for Vancouver’s parks, Bains wants to focus on future-proofing green spaces and infrastructure otherwise. This includes renovating and retrofitting aging facilities, ensuring maintenance is diligent, protecting and expanding tree canopies, and guaranteeing accessibility to all of Vancouver’s residents. As a Punjabi woman and the daughter of an immigrant family, Amanda understands that social and fiscal circumstances shouldn’t be a barrier to park access - the enjoyment of nature and green spaces is for everyone, including anyone in a marginalized community.
Parks are for all, and Bains will make sure that they can flourish and thrive for generations to come.
