Arminder Randhawa is one of the Honorary Co-Chairs of the Vancouver Liberal campaign for the October 17th municipal election. She brings a strong background in advocacy, politics, and law and wants to ensure Vancouver is the best city it can be for all its residents.

Arminder is a former member of the BCNDP Provincial Executive and served on the Board of Variance for the City of Vancouver. She has years of advocacy experience pushing for legal and policy reforms around intimate partner violence, police responses, and the inclusion of women and children's safety in discussions around public safety. Arminder attended the Canadian Labour Congress Winter School for campaign organizing and has been involved with numerous campaigns at all levels of government.
Before joining the public service as a Paralegal, Arminder worked for Cavalluzzo Hayes, one of Canada's leading progressive union-side labour law firms. She was hired by one of the firm’s partners to establish and grow their Vancouver office. During this period, Arminder also revisited one of her longstanding passions: theatre.
With Vancouver's theatre community being relatively small, Arminder expanded her interests into film and television. She started working for one of Western Canada's largest film studios, helping manage business and legal affairs internally while giving direction to outside legal counsel. It was at this time that Arminder had her first theatrical appearance in the film Battle in Seattle, a film depicting the World Trade Organization riots in Seattle. Arminder played the Assistant to the Mayor, appearing opposite Ray Liotta, who portrayed the Mayor of Seattle.
While Arminder’s career and volunteer work took her through law, politics, and the film and television industry, her longstanding interest in human rights ultimately brought her to the public service. Her belief in the Vancouver Liberals’ ideas of not leaving anyone behind inspired her to get involved and draw on her campaign-organizing experience once again.
Arminder is a former track and field athlete and would like to see better upkeep of Vancouver tracks and the installment of outdoor exercise equipment in parks for all residents to enjoy, especially those on fixed incomes such as seniors and people living with disabilities. Babytime at the library and the summer reading program were a big part of her children’s early years and she would like to see library hours restored. Her children are active in community sports and she would like to see Vancouver’s parks and recreation facilities receive full funding to maintain and expand playing fields and community centres.
Arminder is a person living with disabilities and is a survivor of intimate partner violence. She lives in Vancouver with her two children.
