A proud lifelong South Vancouver resident, Armor is running because Vancouver should be a city where the people who keep it alive can afford to live, work, and build a future here. For Armor, that starts with frontline workers: the cooks, nurses, care workers, cleaners, drivers, small business owners, and service workers who hold this city together every day, but are too often pushed to the margins of the city they serve.

Armor is passionate about supporting his community and bringing the voices of young people to City Hall. He is a well-known force in South Vancouver, where his love of food, hospitality, and community-building led him from small business into local politics. For Armor, politics has never been abstract. It starts in the places people actually gather: at neighbourhood restaurants, on Fraser Street, at community events, in hospital kitchens, and around the tables where families talk about rent, work, groceries, and whether they can still afford to stay in Vancouver.

He joins the Vancouver Liberals after previously running for nomination with OneCity, drawn to the Vancouver Liberals’ stated values of diversity and inclusion. Armor was also drawn to the party’s plan to explore a ward system, which would divide Vancouver into local districts and allow each neighbourhood to elect its own dedicated Councillor to City Hall. For Armor, that matters because too many neighbourhoods feel distant from power. A ward system could help bring City Hall closer to the people, giving communities like South Vancouver a stronger and more direct voice.

As a cook at Children’s Hospital, a Hospital Employees’ Union member, and a former small business owner, Armor knows what it means to serve on the frontlines of this city. He understands the dignity of hard work, the pressure frontline workers carry, and the growing anxiety young people feel when they look at Vancouver and wonder whether there is a future for them here. He also understands the barriers small businesses face when trying to open, survive, and serve their communities.

As part of the Vancouver Liberals team, Armor’s goal is to make Vancouver work for young people, support the frontline workers who keep the city moving, reconnect City Hall with the neighbourhoods that make up our communities, and make it easier for small businesses to set up shop and thrive.

Although Armor cooks for his day job, in his free time you will still find him cooking, sharing meals, or enjoying good food with friends and family. In the evenings, if he is not cooking at home, you will likely find him along Fraser Street, supporting local restaurants, or stopping by Duffin’s Donuts.

Armor Valor is running for the people who serve Vancouver, feed Vancouver, care for Vancouver, and still deserve a future in Vancouver.
