Isabel was born in Toronto and grew up in Mexico City, but has called Vancouver home for the past 8 years. She returned to Canada for her undergraduate degree at The University of British Columbia, where she graduated with a double major in Political Science and Sociology.

As a newcomer, Vancouver gave Isabel an educational and career path as well as a genuine sense of community. Isabel is bilingual and multicultural, and Vancouver has allowed her Canadian and Mexican identities to thrive.

Since graduating, Isabel has built a career within Vancouver’s sport and culture sector. Through her work with youth-focused programming she has seen how access to sport, mentorship, and safe spaces helps shape young people’s confidence and sense of belonging. She is running for School Board Trustee because she believes that principles from these programs can be applied more broadly to Vancouver’s educational system.

Sports and physical activity have given Isabel confidence, discipline, and patience. She's a firm believer that staying active is essential for both mental and physical health and as School Board Trustee she’ll advocate for recreational spaces and programming that encourage positive health outcomes for students.

Outside of work, Isabel is truly passionate about an active lifestyle and everything that comes with it. She enjoys long-distance running, plays tennis and holds a black belt in karate.
