Dr. Moira Stilwell is running for Vancouver City Council with the Vancouver Liberal team. A physician and former provincial cabinet minister, she brings more than 30 years of experience serving Vancouver, both in healthcare and in government.
Moira practices nuclear medicine at St. Paul’s Hospital and has spent her career working closely with patients and families across the city. Through that work, she has seen firsthand the pressures people are facing, from rising costs to declining services, and she believes City Hall must do a better job at delivering results.
From 2009 to 2017, Moira served as the MLA for Vancouver-Langara and held senior cabinet roles, including Minister of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development, and Minister of Social Development and Social Innovation. In these roles, she helped drive investment into British Columbia’s knowledge economy and worked to improve support for vulnerable populations, while advocating for policies that strengthen opportunity and economic participation.
In addition to her clinical and public service work, Moira has been a long-time community advocate, including serving as Chair of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, BC & Yukon Chapter, where she worked to improve access to care and support for women and families. Moira believes Vancouver needs a renewed focus on competence, accountability, and practical solutions. Drawing from her experience in medicine, she believes it’s time to reassess what isn’t working and course correct to deliver better outcomes.
Moira is focused on building a stronger economic future for Vancouver – one that attracts talent, supports innovation, and creates well-paying jobs. To do that, she knows we need to connect UBC with downtown Vancouver in order to ensure the city remains a place where young people can build their futures.
Moira is running to help get Vancouver back on track. As part of the Vancouver Liberals team, she is committed to working collaboratively, listening to residents, and delivering practical solutions that improve everyday life in our city.
